What kinds of questions are appropriate?

Any question you might ask at the reference desk in any of the libraries is fair game. Depending on the nature of your question, we may answer it completely, suggest appropriate sources or ask you for more information.

Who may use this form?

This service is intended for the students, faculty, and staff of Smith College. If you are not affiliated with Smith, we ask that you use this service only if your question concerns Smith or some unique resource of the Smith College Libraries. You need a valid e-mail address to receive a response.

Who will answer my question?

Your question will first go to one of the reference librarians in Neilson Library. Specialized questions will be forwarded to other Libraries' staff with the required expertise.

When will I receive an answer?

You will receive an answer as quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours.
