Indexes to the Daily Hampshire Gazette, Hampshire County Journal, Northampton Courier, Northampton Democrat, and other local papers published during late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and microform copies of these papers are available for on-site use.

Neilson Reference AI21 .N44
The New York Times Index. New York: New York Times Co., 1851-present.
Provides access to articles, reviews, and other information published in the Times.
Complete copies of the daily issues of the paper from 1851 through the previous
month are available on microfilm at Neilson Library, Microfilm 83.

19th-century Masterfile / Poole's Plus
Provides access to British and American magazines and newspapers (including the New York Times and the New York Daily Tribune), patents, and other government documents published from 1802 to 1906.

Art, Architecture, & Design

Art Abstracts and Art Index Retrospective
These two databases cover all aspects of the visual arts, including architecture and design, providing cover to cover indexing of over 400 periodicals published throughout the world. They provide access to articles, exhibition reviews, and reproductions. Art Abstracts covers 1984 to the present, Art Index Retrospective covers 1929 to 1984. Art Abstracts is updated monthly and abstracts are provided for records added after 1994. Useful subject headings for topics addressed in this course are:

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals
Covering architecture and related fields, Avery Index provides regular access to approximately 1,000 periodicals from the 1930s (with selective coverage dating back to the 1860s) to the present. Design and Applied Arts Index
DAAI provides annotated references to almost 100,000 articles, news items, reviews, obituaries, and illustrations published in approximately 450 design and craft periodicals from 1973 to 1998. It is international in scope and covers all aspects of design including industrial, interior, and textile design, and architecture.

History, Technology, & Social Sciences

American History and Life

Social Sciences Abstracts
