Help Finding Articles

  • To find articles on a specific topic, look in the "Articles" section of one of the subject pages listed on the Research page - view a demo.

  • To find articles in interdisciplinary sources or popular magazines, see the "Find Articles" page, listed on the Research page.

  • While searching bibliographic databases, look for the graphic buttons for SFX or SC Links within the search results. Use this link to connect to full text journals (online), the library catalog (for print holdings), and Interlibrary Loan (for journal articles not available at Smith). Questions? See the SC Links FAQ.

  • To find out whether a journal is available at Smith in either electronic or print format, search the Journal Locator by journal title. Use the links on the menu that appears to:

    • connect to an online database that includes full-text for your citation.
    • connect to the Five College Library Catalog to view print holdings for your journal.
    • request an article not available at Smith through Interlibrary Loan.

  • For a list of periodical databases that contain at least some full text titles, see Full Text Databases. Research Tip: Remember that many scholarly titles are not yet available in full text.

  • To find where (which database) a particular journal is indexed online (citations only), search Ulrichsweb.com or Jake (via the University of Florida).

  • To get more help, contact us using one of the options on the left.
