Deborah R. McFarlane

Population and Reproductive Health Oral History Project

Deborah R. McFarlane was Project Director for the Population and Reproductive Health Oral History Project funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation (2001-2006). She designed the project and interviewed about one third of the narrators in the U.S. and abroad.

Trained in public health, McFarlane has worked in reproductive health for more than three decades. She is the co-author of The Politics of Fertility Control: Family Planning and Abortion Policies in the United States (2001). Currently she is Interim Executive Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Center for Health Policy at the University of New Mexico and Professor of Political Science.
