Virginia
Woolf’s grandparents and mother lived in this house in East
Sussex, when the Jackson family returned to England from India.
“It was a good country house with a pleasant garden and
two or three fields.” All through her life, Julia “was
constantly at Saxonbury... keeping an eye on her mother’s
state of health.”
