| Martin Antonetti,
a specialist in the history of books and printing, is the Curator
of Rare Books at Smith College. He held a smiliar position at
Mills College, served as director of New York's Grolier Club,
and taught in the University of Virginia's Rare Book School. |
Sarah Pritchard served as the Director
of the Smith College Libraries from 1992 to 1999. She has masters
degrees in French and Library Science from the University of Wisconsin.
Prior to coming to Smith, she held positions at Association of
Research Libraries, Princeton University, and the Library of Congress. |
| Barbara B. Blumenthal,
a Smith College alumna, served a brief apprenticeship with master
bookbinder Arno Werner, and has been a professional bookbinder,
letterpress printer, and designer for 22 years. She also works
part-time in the Smith College Library Mortimer Rare Book Room. |
Sherrill Redmon is the Head of
the Sophia Smith Collection and Coordinator of the Libraries'
Special Collections. She trained at the Modern Archives Institute,
a program of the National Archives, and has a doctorate in history. |
| Paula Bush is the
Plant Manager for Ridley's Book Bindery, Inc. She has 17 years
of experience in all phases of book binding and preservation techniques. |
Dea Sasso has been proprietor of
Light of Day Studios for 11 years, dividing her time between teaching
and hand bookbinding for private clients and educational institutions. |
Lisa
Clark is the Book Repair Technician for the Smith College Libraries.
She received a certificate in bookbinding from the North Bennet
Street School in 1996. |
Bill Streeter, a hand bookbinder
for 15 years, also teaches binding. His Silver Maple Bindery in
Northampton catering to book collectors and book dealers, includes
work on church and town records, and family histories. |
| Karen Eberhart served
as the Archives Specialist in the Smith College Archives from
1997 to 1999. She received a Masters in Library and Information
Science with a certificate in Preservation Administration from
the University of Texas at Austin. |
Gregor Trinkaus-Randall is the Preservation Specialist at the Massachusetts Board of Library
Commissioners, where he implements the Emergency Assistance Program
and its Environmental Monitoring Program. He has spoken widely
on preservation, disaster preparedness, and security topics. |
| JoAnn Furman is the
Circulation/Reference Assistant at the Josten Performing Arts
Library at Smith College. At the open house, she demonstrated
binding techniques used to protect the libraries' music scores. |
John Wingate is Sales and Marketing
Director for Ridley's Book Bindery. Since coming to the company
in 1993, he has nearly doubled Ridley's academic, legal, and medical
library account. |
| Peter Geraty, a bookbinder
for 24 years, has trained and worked at the Museum of Comparative
Zoology at Harvard, and the Harcourt Bindery in Boston. He established
Praxis Bookbindery 15 years ago, and specializes in book conservation
and fine binding. |
Nanci Young is the Smith College
Archivist. She came to Smith from Princeton University where she
served as Assistant Archivist. She earned both a Masters degree
in History and a Certificate in Archival Management from the University
of Connecticut. |
Jane
Hedberg, Serials Librarian and Preservation Administrator at Wellesley
College since 1984, is a Smith graduate from the class of 1969.
She is active in local and national preservation organizations,
and teaches regularly at the Simmons School of Library and Information
Science and at the Northeast Document Conservation Center. |
