Scheduled Power Outages This Afternoon/Evening 4-7 pm

Due to testing of emergency back-up systems, the campus will experience intermittent power outages over the next few days.

If using a computer on campus, be sure the save your work often!

Wednesday, June 5th:  The entire campus will experience short-term power outages between 5 and 8 am and between 4 and 7 pm while Facilities tests the new emergency power generation system.  All network systems and services will be unavailable during these intervals.

ITS will begin bringing systems and services back up as soon as power is stable, but please be prepared for possible longer term unavailability of some network services, including Moodle, in offices, libraries, classrooms, and labs while this process is underway.
Thursday, June 6th:  All Banner servers will be shut down at 4:30 pm on Thursday, June 6th, in preparation for a move to a new location. Full service will be restored by 8 am on Monday, June 10th.

The following systems and services will be unavailable during the downtime interval: Smith Portal, Campus Directory, Course Catalog, Banner, BannerWeb, eBill, ePay, Nolij document management, Cognos, BAR reporting, Maps/Intellicheck, R25/25Live, and the Smith data warehouse.

Friday, June 7th:  If a third test of the new power generation system is required, it will occur between 5 and 8 am, with the same impact as described above for Wednesday, June 5th.

Note that we will post additional information about these downtimes on the ITS service status page as it becomes available:
