The Smith College Poetry Center, in cooperation with the Broadside Bookshop, presented nationally-recognized poet Galway Kinnell and British poet Josephine Dickinson in a reading here April 24, 2007.

Josephine Dickinson read from her new book Silence Fell, the title of which refers to her sudden deafness at age six. The book tells the story of her marriage to a Cambrian sheep farmer, a man more than twice her age, and their life together until his death in 2004.
Galway Kinnell has been a major figure in American poetry for more than three decades. Kinnell's lucid and heartful poems have won him a large and passionate following. Kinnell read from his brand-new collection, Strong Is Your Hold.
