the Book
We're all about books and every other library resource that is the heart of a liberal arts college today. At Smith, that heart is strong, with some 1.5 million items among four libraries that together comprise one of the largest collections of any undergraduate liberal arts college in the country.
For more than 100 years, Smith has developed its libraries to enrich the educational experience of students. The Friends of the Smith College Libraries was founded in 1942 to enhance that development. For decades, the Friends have contributed toward the acquisition of books, archival materials, special resources and funds, and to the renovation and expansion of facilities.
Our Members
Our members—alumnae, parents, faculty and students—are passionately committed to preserving and expanding the college's collections of books, research materials, and support technologies, and to ensuring that the Smith libraries remain a priceless resource.
If you share our passion for books, and would like to express your support in a meaningful and powerful way, please consider joining us, or contributing with other gifts. Or both.
