Jerusalem: Jewel of the Holy Land

The exhibit prepared by students in Religion 110: The Holy Land, under the supervision of Prof Suleiman Ali Mourad, is now on view in the art library.

The members of Religion 110 (The Holy Land) invite you to enjoy the exhibition "Jerusalem: Jewel of the Holy Land" which portrays examples of the religious and secular presentations and representations of Jerusalem and the Holy Land throughout the centuries using books, pamphlets, and other materials from the Smith Collge Libraries collections. Students Tracy A. Pearson and Shawna Geary have prepared a complementary PowerPoint presentation, "Jerusalem and the Ties that Bind," which can be viewed by clicking on this link.

We would like to acknowledge the great assistance provided to us by Martin Antonetti (Curator of Rare Books Libraries, Nielson Library), Barbara Polowy (Art Librarian, Hillyer Art Library), and their staff. The exhibit is sponsored by the Middle East Committee at Smith College.

The exhibition will be on display in the Hillyer Art Library lobby from December 11, 2006, until the end of January 2007.
