Director of Special Collections Smith College invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Special Collections. The Director will provide energetic leadership, creative vision, and strong management to the extraordinary Special Collections Group: the Sophia Smith Collection, the College Archives and the Mortimer Rare Book Room. The Director leads, manages and develops services and collections that document the history of women, the college and the book. The Director develops and implements strategic digital initiatives to make unique resources widely available. As a member of the Faculty, the Director works closely with faculty and instructional librarians to teach research methods for and provide hands-on experience with primary sources. The Director extends and expands Special Collections resource base through alumni and donor cultivation and external funding. The Director collaborates with library leadership and staff to realize the vision and mission of the Libraries. As leader of the Special Collections Group the Director will lead, guide and support all aspects of the Group’s services and operations. The Director will directly oversee operations of the Sophia Smith Collection and the College Archives; the Rare Book Room will report to the Director. |

Director of Digital Strategies & Services Smith College invites nominations and application for the newly created position of Director of Digital Strategies & Services. The Director will lead the Libraries and the Libraries’ Digital Strategies & Services group in collaboratively developing, integrating and supporting current and emerging technologies for all library services to enhance and improve the learning and research experience of our users. The Director is also responsible for facilitating and improving access to digital scholarly resources through a multitude of web services platforms; leading the Libraries’ collaborative efforts in campus digital initiatives in providing discovery, access and preservation for the college’s unique scholarly assets; and collaborating with library leadership and staff to realize the vision and mission of the Libraries. |
