Director of Special Collections

Smith College invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Special Collections. The Director will provide energetic leadership, creative vision, and strong management to one of the most significant college library special collections in American comprised of the Sophia Smith Collection, the College Archives and the Rare Book Collection. The Director will directly oversee operations of the Sophia Smith Collection and the College Archives; the Rare Book Room will report to the Director. The Director will be chief curator of the Sophia Smith Collection, overseeing the collection and attuned to emerging areas of women’s history research. As a member of the Faculty, the Director works closely with faculty and instructional librarians to teach research methods for and provide hands-on experience with primary sources.  A review of applications will begin in late August and continue until the position is filled.

Director of Teaching, Learning, and Research

Lead, manage and coordinate teaching, learning and research services for the Smith College Libraries. Oversee the development of library collections in multiple formats. Develop, assess and sustain traditional and emerging services and learning spaces. Collaborate with library leadership and staff to realize the vision and mission of the Libraries.
