Shady Hill Teacher Training Program

The Shady Hill Teacher Training program looks each year for sixteen individuals who are interested in learning to teach and work with children in an early childhood, elementary or middle school setting. In one year you can earn a Master's Degree in Education and your teaching license all while gaining hands on experience in a classroom with a master teacher. Successful apprentices enjoy children, academic rigor and mentorship. Flexibility, curiosity, independence and teamwork are a must for our program. Once admitted, apprentices are accepted as members of the Shady Hill Community and the communities of our partner public schools in Boston, Cambridge and Watertown. Apprentices spend the year working together as a cohort in seminars and workshops and individually on best practice in the classroom. We offer two full scholarships and significant financial aid, and we support our apprentices in securing jobs after the completion of the program.
