Blueprint Schools Network
Blueprint Schools Network (Blueprint) is a nonprofit organization based in Massachusetts. Our work with schools around the country has shown that positive change is possible when five core strategies for school improvement are implemented together as a comprehensive package. These strategies include: 1. Ensuring every student has an excellent teacher and a school leader committed to their success; 2. Setting clear, consistent standards for academic achievement and establishing a school-wide focus on preparing all students for college; 3. Increasing instructional time; 4. Providing daily, small group tutoring to students using highly qualified and well-trained instructors; and 5. Collecting assessment data frequently to monitor each student’s academic progress and tailoring instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation is the fourth oldest architecture school in the United States, dating back to 1881. GSAPP began offering courses in town planning in 1912, which eventually led the creation of an Urban Planning graduate program in 1950. Additionally, the Historic Preservation program began in 1964 as the first such program in the United States. Students at GSAPP use the resources of New York City as a laboratory, while also studying throughout the United States and the world. WorldTeach provides opportunities for individuals to serve as volunteer teachers around the world, working to educate students in countries that would otherwise be unable to afford qualified teachers. By partnering with Ministries of Education and other organizations, we send 400 volunteers annually to schools and communities that have specifically requested our support. Since our inception in 1986, we have placed over 7,000 volunteers throughout Asia, Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Pacific, providing volunteers with teacher training, language preparation, housing, a monthly stipend and field support. We empower them to affect lasting change in the community where they work, and to become responsible global citizens. WorldTeach is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
