The Smith College Lazarus Center takes part in several career fairs and interview days to help introduce students to a larger, more varied employer base. Employers that do not recruit on campus will often participate in these events.

MERC (Massachusetts Educational Recruiting Consortium) Job Fair
Thursday, April 24, 2014, 9:30-3:30pm
Northeastern University, Cabot Gym, Boston MA
Smith undergraduate and graduate students of all majors are invited to attend an education career fair being held by the Massachusetts Educational Recruiting Consortium (MERC). MERC brings together representatives from public and independent schools and education non-profits from New England and elsewhere in the US to meet with member school students and alums to discuss job opportunities. Admission to the fair is free, and teacher certification, though required by many employers, is not needed to attend.

Those living on campus or locally who are interested in the fair should attend an orientation on Wednesday, April 9, from 5:15-6:15pm in the Lazarus Center Workshop Room to obtain the required registration packet. Before the meeting, please visit the MERC fair site, set up a log-in using the token merc2014, and view the participating employers signed up to date. Employers continue to sign up during March and April, so check the site frequently. Pizza will be served at the orientation, and we ask that you please RSVP for the meeting and pizza count by Monday, April 7, at 4:30pm to Lazarus Center Assistant Director Janice Schell at jschell@smith.edu.
