CALL FOR FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS: LONG-TERM PROJECTS 2009-2010

Next year the Kahn Institute will support two yearlong projects: Telling Time: Its Meaning and Measurement organized by Bosiljka Glumac (Geology) and Richard Lim (History) and Wellness and Disease organized by Mary Harrington (Psychology) and Benita Jackson (Psychology).  Both will begin in the fall of 2009 and continue through the spring semester.  The goals of these projects are described on the project summary pages. Click here to view the project summary for Telling Time. Click here to view the project summary page for Wellness and Disease .

The projects can each support up to ten Faculty Fellows.  There is no application form: just send a letter or email to the Director of the Kahn Institute explaining why you are interested in the project, what you hope to get out of it and what you think you’ll be able to contribute to it.  Faculty Fellows will receive a $3,000 research grant; junior faculty may opt for a course release instead of the grant.  Student assistance is available for library work and other tasks that need not be specifically related to the Kahn project.

Applications for Faculty Fellowships for either Telling Time: Its Meaning and Measurement or Wellness and Disease are due in the Kahn Institute office by October 17, 2008.  Student Fellows will be selected in the spring semester.

An informational meeting for faculty interested in the Telling Time project will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2008, 12:00 pm. Kahn Liberal Arts Institute. An informational meeting for faculty interested in the Wellness and Disease project will take place on Monday, September 22, 2008, 12:00 pm. Kahn Liberal Arts Institute.
