Adobe Contribute (Faculty & Staff only)

If you already know Microsoft Word, Contribute's familiar Word-like interface makes it easy to edit the text on a webpage, add images and links, create tables, and insert the contents of a Word or Excel document.  This simple web editor is an ideal tool for anyone who is responsible for maintaining and updating a Smith website.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Word, and a need to maintain web pages for a Smith department or a Smith-related project.

Please note that this class meets twice, as shown below.

Adobe Dreamweaver: Creating a Basic Web Page

Dreamweaver is a very versatile and powerful html editing software application. This workshop will help participants begin basic design of a web page and understand how to set up and manage a website in Dreamweaver. The workshop will cover orientation, saving and uploading of files, and page properties. We’ll conclude with best uses of images, multimedia, hyperlinks, and rollovers.

Prerequisites: Participants need good basic computing skills.

Adobe Dreamweaver: Cascading Style Sheets

This course will show those who already know how to build websites ways to fine-tune and customize the look of their web pages. Text, images, positioning, lists, and more can all be edited to create web pages that are original and engaging.

Prerequisites: Attendees should already know how to make a web page, have knowledge of html, and some experience with Dreamweaver.

Adobe Dreamweaver: Simple Forms

In this workshop you will learn how to construct simple web-based forms using Dreamweaver's forms tools, and insert commands that package a user's data into an email message and send it to a designated recipient. Note that we will NOT be covering forms that input user data directly into a database.

Prerequisites: Working knowledge of Dreamweaver.

Adobe Dreamweaver In-Depth (Faculty & Staff only)

Dreamweaver is a full-featured software application for developing and managing websites. Learn to create basic web pages using text, images, tables, hyperlinks, and form elements.  The class will also cover dynamic elements such as rollover images and pop-up menus, as well as basic file and website management strategies.

Please note that this class meets four times, as shown below.

Adobe Flash Basics

This workshop is an introduction to the creation of graphics and animation using Macromedia Flash 8. We will learn the basics of vector graphics and how to animate various objects. The students will walk away with a simple animation created for a website. 

Prerequisites: Participants should have some knowledge of the creation of computer graphics (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc)
