Using a Headset with an M3903 or M3904 Telephone

This document describes recommended settings for the standard headset users may purchase from the Smith Computer Store. The standard headset is the HelloSet Corded Basic model from HelloDirect. For information about wireless headsets, please contact the Computer Store at x3027.

To ensure compatibility with the new telephones, use the settings for “most phones” outlined in the Quick Setup Guide that came with your headset:
  1. Be sure your batteries are in good working order.

  2. Set the Compatibility switches located on the back of your headset as follows:

    ON – 1, 2, 3, 4
    OFF – 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12

  3. Set the Sensitivity switches located on the back of your headset as follows:

    ON – 1, 2, 4
    OFF – 3

  4. The headset can then be connected directly to the phone. There is an additional port on the back of the phone exclusively for headset use.

Other Headset Types

For information on headset compatibility and setup instructions for other headset types, refer to the documentation you received with your headset. The phone type is a Nortel M3903 or M3904.
