FINDING YOUR COMPUTER IDENTIFIER


Follow the instructions below to locate the computer identifier(s) for your desktop or laptop computer.

Windows DESKTOP computer
Windows LAPTOP computer

Macintosh DESKTOP computer
Macintosh LAPTOP computer



Windows DESKTOP Computer

  1. Open the Start menu and choose Run.

  2. In the Run window, enter cmd and click OK.

  3. In the black window, at the c:> prompt, enter: ipconfig/all and press Enter.

  4. Look in the section called Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection.

    1. Your Ethernet computer identifier is labeled: Physical Address

      Example: B8-AC-6F-7F-47-A5

    2. Write the 12-character value in the Ethernet field on your form.

  5. Close the black window and you're done.

Windows LAPTOP Computer

  1. Connect your computer to a wireless network.

  2. Open the Start menu and choose Run.

  3. In the Run window, enter cmd and click OK.

  4. In the black window, at the c:> prompt, enter: ipconfig/all and press Enter.

  5. Look in the section called Ethernet Adapter WIRELESS Network Connection.

    1. The wireless computer identifier is labeled: Physical Address

      Example: B8-AC-6F-7F-47-A5

    2. Write the 12-character value in the Wireless field on your form.

  6. Look in the section called Ethernet Adapter Network Connect Adapter.

    1. The Ethernet computer identifier is labeled Physical Address.

    2. Write the 12-character value in the Ethernet field on your form.

      (Note that this will be different from your wireless ID number.)

  7. Close the black window and you're done.

Macintosh DESKTOP Computer

  1. Open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

  2. Under Internet and Wireless, click on Network.

  3. Click on the Advanced button in the lower right.

    1. Click on the Ethernet tab.

    2. Your Ethernet computer identifier is labeled: Ethernet ID

      Example: 00:1e:c2:a3:06:94

    3. Write the 12-character value in the Ethernet field on your form.

    4. Click OK, close the Network window, and you're done.

Macintosh LAPTOP Computer

  1. Open the Apple menu and choose System Preferences.

  2. Under Internet and Wireless, click on Network.

  3. Click on Ethernet on the left, then on the Advanced button in the lower right.

    1. Click on the Ethernet button at the top.

    2. Your Ethernet computer identifier is labeled: Ethernet ID

      Example: 00:1e:c2:a3:06:94

    3. Write the 12-character value in the Ethernet field on your form.

    4. Click OK.

  4. Click on Airport on the left, then on the Advanced button in the lower right.

    1. Click on the Airport button at the top.

    2. Your wireless computer identifier is labeled: Airport ID

    3. Write the 12-character value in the Wireless field on your form.

      (Note that this will be different from your Ethernet ID.)

    4. Click OK, close the Network window, and you're done.
