PASSWORD-PROTECTING YOUR WINDOWS 7 COMPUTER WORKSTATION

Even though your network files are protected by a Novell password, we strongly recommend setting a separate workstation password to protect your workstation from unauthorized access and add an additional level of security for your files.

Without a workstation password, your computer is vulnerable in two ways:

  • Anyone who has physical access to your computer can use it in "Workstation only" mode to connect to the Internet or access all the files on your C: drive, with or without your permission.

  • Anyone who knows your Novell username and password has full access to your local computer and all your network drives.

Setting a separate workstation password provides an extra level of protection for all the information stored on your computer.
