SAVING AND RESTORING BROWSER BOOKMARKS

The directions below explain how to save your browser bookmarks to your H: drive (or another location), so you can copy them to a different computer later.

Internet Explorer
Mozilla Firefox
Safari



INTERNET EXPLORER 6.X

Save (export) your bookmarks to your H: drive (or another location)

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Go to File/Import and Export.

  3. In the Import Export Wizard, click Next.

  4. Select Export Favorites and click Next.

  5. Select Favorites and click Next.

  6. Select Export to a file or address and click Browse.

  7. Change the Save in location to H: or another location. Be sure to note the location so you can retrieve the file later.

  8. Click Next then Finish.

Your bookmarks are now saved in a file called bookmarks.html.



Copy (import) bookmarks to a different computer

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Go to File, Import and Export.

  3. In the Welcome Wizard, click Next.

  4. Select Import Favorites and click Next.

  5. Select Import from a file or address and click Browse to locate your bookmarks.html file.

  6. Select Favorites and click Next.

  7. Click Next then Finish.

MOZILLA FIREFOX

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Go to Bookmarks / Manage Bookmarks or Organize Bookmarks.

  3. In the Bookmarks Manager window, go to File/Export.

  4. Change the Save in location to H: or another location. (Be sure to note the location so you can retrieve the file later.)

  5. Click Save.

Your bookmarks are now saved in a file called bookmarks.html.



Copy (import) bookmarks to a different computer

  1. Open Firefox.

  2. Go to Bookmarks / Manage Bookmarks or Organize Bookmarks.

  3. In the Bookmarks Manager window, go to File/Import.

  4. Change the Look in location to the drive where you have your bookmarks.html file, and open the file.

SAFARI

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Go to File > Export Bookmarks.

  3. Change the Save As location to your network drive or another location. (Be sure to note the location so you can retrieve the file later.)

  4. Click Save.

Your bookmarks are now saved in a file called Safari Bookmarks.html.



Copy (import) bookmarks to a different computer

  1. Open Safari.

  2. Go to File / Import Bookmarks.

  3. In the Import Bookmarks window, go to the location where you saved your bookmarks then select the Safari Bookmarks.html file, and choose Import.
