CLEARING THE CACHE ON YOUR BROWSER
Clearing the cache on your browser removes old versions of pages that may interfere with your ability to access or use certain web-based applications.
If you are using the recommended browser for a Smith-standard web-based application but still have trouble connecting to or using it, please clear your cache and re-try before calling the User Support Center for assistance.
Google Chrome (Windows or Mac)
Windows users:
Internet Explorer 8 or 9
Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and higher
Mac users:
Apple Safari
Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and higher
- Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon (three horizontal bars) on the top right of the Chrome window, and choose Settings from the pop-up menu.
- At the bottom of the Settings window, click on Show Advanced Settings.
- Under the Privacy heading, leave the default settings as they are and click Clear Data Browsing.
- Click Clear Data Browsing again.
Internet Explorer 8 or 9 (Windows)
- IE8: Proceed to step 2.
IE9: Click Tools (or press Alt-x) then proceed to step 2.
- From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History.
- De-select Preserve Favorites website data.
- Select Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History.
- Click Delete.
Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and higher (Windows)
- From the Tools menu, select Clear Recent History.
In Firefox 4 and higher, you can also click the orange Firefox button and select History, then Clear Recent History.
- From the Time range to clear menu, select the desired range. To clear your entire cache, select Everything (recommended).
- Click the down arrow beside Details to choose other history elements you wish to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies.)
- Click Clear Now.
- From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari.
- From the menu, select the items you want to reset.
Note that as of Safari 5.1, Remove all website data covers both your cache and cookies.
- Click Reset.
Mozilla Firefox 3.6 and higher (Mac)
- In Firefox, open the Tools menu and select Clear Recent History.
- Select the items you want to clear. We recommend choosing Browsing & Download History, Cache, and Cookies.
- Click Clear Private Data Now.
