Clearing the cache on your browser removes old versions of pages that may interfere with your ability to access or use certain web-based applications.

If you are using the recommended browser for a Smith-standard web-based application but still have trouble connecting to or using it, please clear your cache and re-try before calling the User Support Center for assistance.

Google Chrome (Windows or Mac)

Windows users:

   Internet Explorer
   Mozilla Firefox

Mac users:

   Apple Safari
   Mozilla Firefox

Google Chrome

  1. Click on the Customize and Control Google Chrome icon (three horizontal bars) on the top right of the Chrome window, and choose Settings from the pop-up menu.

  2. At the bottom of the Settings window, click on Show Advanced Settings.

  3. Under the Privacy heading, leave the default settings as they are and click Clear Data Browsing.

  4. Click Clear Data Browsing again.

Internet Explorer (Windows)

  1. IE8: Proceed to step 2.
    IE9: Click Tools (or press Alt-x) then proceed to step 2.

  2. From the Safety menu in the upper right, click Delete Browsing History.

  3. De-select Preserve Favorites website data.

  4. Select Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History.

  5. Click Delete.

Mozilla Firefox (Windows)

  1. If you see the History menu, select Clear Recent History.

    If you see the orange Firefox button at the top left, select History, then Clear Recent History.

  2. From the Time range to clear menu, select the desired range. To clear your entire cache, select Everything (recommended).

  3. Click the down arrow beside Details to choose other history elements you wish to clear (e.g., check Cookies to clear cookies.)

  4. Click Clear Now.

Apple Safari (Mac)

  1. From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari.

  2. From the menu, select the items you want to reset.

    Note that as of Safari 5.1, Remove all website data covers both your cache and cookies.

  3. Click Reset.

Mozilla Firefox (Mac)

  1. In Firefox, open the History menu and select Clear Recent History.

  2. Select the items you want to clear. We recommend choosing Browsing & Download History, Cache, and Cookies.

  3. Click Clear Private Data Now.
