Introduction to the GroupWise Web Address Boook

The address book opens in a new window.  By default the address book is the GroupWise Address Book, this book contains everyone at Smith College who has an email account.

Searching and Selecting

Log into your GroupWise web account.  You can either start a new message then select the Address Book for from the main GroupWise window select the Address Book button.

Note:  The default is to search by last name.

  1. If you decide to search by last name place the blinking cursor in the last field and begin typing the last name of the person you are searching for. 










  2. Click the Search button to the right.   Example: Morr will return everyone whose last name starts with Morr.  (13 matches)






    OR

  3. Change the search by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to last name and select first name.   Exmaple:  First Name begins with Sharon will return 11 matches.




  4. Once you have located the person to send email to click in the checkbox next to their name.

  5. Click the To field button just about the listing.  This will place the selected person into the Right Hand side of the screen. 



  6. You can do one of several things now, search for another person by changing the search criteria , click the Mail button as this is the only user you are emailing, click the Red X next to their name to delete this person as you may have choosen the wrong person or click Save Group.  (see creating groups)

  7. Note:  You can also change the Address Book to Frequent Contacts or your address book.

Adding a Contact

You can add a new contact to your Frequent Contacts or your Personal Address books.  The GroupWise Address Book is owned by the system and you do not have the right to edit or delete.

  1. With the Address Book open, click on Add Entry button.

  2. The Add Address Entry window appears.  The default is to add the new entry to the Frequent Contacts address book if you would like to change this to your personal address book, click the drop-down arrow at the end of the field and select your address book.



  3. You must fill in at least the three required fields.  These are marked with the red *.  If you have other information that you would like in the address book entry please feel free to enter that information.

  4. Click the OK button at the bottom of the screen when done.
