USC hours. The User Support Center in Stoddard 23 is open for telephone and walk-in support every weekday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM unless the college is closed. If you can't find the information you need on TARA, call the USC at x4487 or send email to 4its@smith.edu.

Multi-Function Devices: Smith staff and faculty, before you can print using an MFD, follow these instructions to install the required printer drivers. If you have questions or problems with your MFD, click here.

Simpler email address. Smith's primary email identity is now @smith.edu. All messages sent to @email.smith.edu addresses will be delivered as usual, but you must use your @smith.edu address to log in to MessageScreen. Subscribers to email lists may also need to change some list settings. For more information, click here.

New wireless access points on campus. ITS has installed multiple new wireless access points in academic buildings across campus. Users in these locations connect to the wireless network using Cisco Clean Access (CCA), a proven network authentication and security system. Click here to learn more.
ITS goes green! ITS recycles computer equipment and supplies, and so can you. To learn about all the ITS programs for recycling, re-using, and buying technology designed with the planet in mind, click here.

Got McAfee AntiSpyware? McAfee's new antispyware program runs continuously in the background, updates itself automatically, and makes your computer faster and more secure. To get it, download McAfee VirusScan 8.7 from the Smith software page.

ITS blogs: Visit the MacUser and WinBlog blogs for news and alerts tailored for all Mac and Windows users at Smith.  Students, the TechNotes blog is just for you. You can create an RSS feed or sign up for email alerts for any or all of these blogs.

Office 2007 users: If you are sending a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file to someone who does not have Office 2007, be sure to save your file in a format your recipient can open. Click here for instructions.

Non-Office 2007
users: If you cannot open a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file sent by an Office 2007 user, click below for instructions on installing a program that can convert the file to a format your computer can read.

RIAA's New Strategy for Pursuing Copyright Infringers

Free software!  Don't forget that McAfee, GroupWise, and many other applications and plug-ins are available to the Smith community at no cost on the software download site: http://www.smith.edu/smithsoftware

Students:  Be sure to save a copy of all your important files on your network (H:) drive.  That way you'll always have a backup if anything happens to your computer or storage media. Click here to learn how to transfer files to and from your network drive.
