Welcome to TARA, the Smith College Technology And Resource Adviser. TARA is an on-line collection of software instructions, user guides, and tip sheets created by ITS staff for the Smith community.

Our McAfee site license has expired, so all Smith users who still have McAfee VirusScan on their office or personal computer must uninstall it. Windows users should replace VirusScan with Microsoft Security Essentials, a free program that provides excellent malware and virus protection and uses minimal system resources. For more information and instructions, click here.
New Graduates: Click here to find out what happens to all your Smith accounts (Moodle, Smith Mail, BannerWeb, Sophia, etc.) after graduation.

Using the Smith Portal to access BannerWeb functions:

1. Go to portal.smith.edu and enter your network username and password.

2. Faculty: Click on the My Info or Teaching & Advising tab.
    Staff: Click on the My Info tab.
    Students: Click on the My Student Info tab.

3. Click on a task of interest (Registration, Class Lists, Timesheet Entry,
    Leave Report Entry, etc.) to go directly to the selected task in BannerWeb.

FREE Lynda.com online courses on office software, web design, photo and video editing, and much more are now available to the entire Smith community. To explore your options, log on to the Smith Portal and click the Lynda.com link on the General Info tab, or try the new Lynda.com app for Apple mobile devices.

Cloud storage makes it easy to save, access, and share all your files on the web. Of the numerous cloud-storage services available, Smith is supporting Google Drive and Box. To learn more about your cloud-storage options, click here. To learn how to use your free Smith 25G Box account, click here.

Wireless network options. The SmithSecure wireless network provides a secure encrypted connection and is the recommended choice for all Smith students, faculty, and staff. Enter the password sophiasmith to log in.

SmithGuest offers temporary Internet access to campus guests, who must enter their email address. The unencrypted WiSmi network is also available to Smith users. For more information, click here.
