Teleconferencing Services for Faculty & Staff
Smith offers faculty and staff access to the ReadyConference Plus teleconferencing service provided
by Premiere Conferencing. Click here to view a company brochure
describing the service.
If you wish to use this service, contact Sharon Moore (x2624, smoore@email.smith.edu)
to request an account. You will be sent a wallet card with
a toll-free number to use to reach the service, a
moderator passcode, and a participant passcode.
Once the account
is set up, no reservations are required to use the
service. Entering the moderator passcode automatically establishes
a conference call, and callers entering the associated
participant passcode are automatically added to the
call.
Premiere also offers the ability to upload a
Powerpoint presentation or other Microsoft file that can be
viewed on the Web by all participants and centrally
controlled by the moderator.
The cost for the audio service is
$.15 per minute for each phone dialed into the service
provider (multiple participants behind a single speaker
phone are only counted as one). The web feature
also has a $.15 per minute charge for each login.
All
charges are billed back to your organization,
which you provide at the time you establish your
account.
Other feature of the service include:
- Linked website to share a slide
presentation during the conference call
- Ability to record the call for
later playback*
- Ability to lock the conference
so no additional participants can join
- Ability to Mute/Unmute
all participant lines to block background noise
- Ability
to add participants via dial-out
*There is no charge to have a conference recorded,
but the regular port charge (i.e. $.15/minute) applies
for each playback. Premiere will store the recording
for approximately 30 days, it is also possible to
get a CD of the recording for an additional $15 charge.
