INTERNET ACCESS

Smith College provides a variety of academic and administrative information to the campus through its World Wide Web server. The web server is a hypermedia system providing access to hypertext (documents with links to other documents) and graphics.

All campus systems are connected to the internet. You can learn more about accessing these resources by attending Internet training sessions offered jointly by ITS and the Libraries. Written information is available through the User Support Center in Stoddard 23 or the Libraries, and on the TARA technical documentation web site.

Smith College Website

The Smith College website (www.smith.edu) has been on-line since 1995, and continues to evolve as more departments provide electronic access to their resources. Local information, as well as links to GOPHER servers around the world, is also available through the Smith College GOPHER server. The GOPHER tool is available from any VAX or UNIX system or networked workstation.

Additional information about Internet access is available from the User Support Center in Stoddard 23. For information about linking your personal or departmental homepage to the Smith website, please contact the Web Manager.

For more information about campus networking, please contact the Director of Systems and Network Management.
