All student
houses on campus are connected
to the Smith College Cable
TV (SCTV) service. Every
student room has a cable
TV jack installed in the
wall.
To connect to SCTV in your room, you will need a cable-ready TV and a coax
cable. Devices to display cable TV on some computer screens, as well as coax
cables of various lengths, are available for purchase from the Computer Store
in Stoddard Hall 22.
The SCTV channel line-up is the same as the line-up for Comcast's Northampton
residential customers, with the addition of several foreign language channels.
Click here for a complete channel listing.
Comcast's residential customers pay approximately $30 per month for this service.
SCTV service is provided to Smith students at NO COST!
Cable TV Setup

your TV and follow the instructions for activating the cable-ready features of
the set. You can find many manufacturers' manuals online. Some common sites

Resolving Cable TV Problems
- If the
coax cable that connects
your TV
to the wall jack is damaged,
you will need to
replace
it. Replacement cables
can be purchased
at the Computer
Store
in Stoddard 22 or from other vendors.
- If your
cable TV wall port is damaged, call the User
Support Center at x4487.
- If you can connect your cable but receive
only some cable stations, consult the manual for your television for further troubleshooting
assistance.
- If
you can't receive any cable stations,
first check with other students in your house. If others are having the same problem, call the USC at x4487 to report the number and location of students in your house who don't have service.
- If you are the only one who can't receive cable stations, call Comcast at 1-888-SERVEM1 (1-888-737-8361). Be
prepared to provide your name,
house, room number, phone
number, and a description
of the problem.
