All student
houses on campus are connected
to the Smith College Cable
TV (SCTV) service. Every
student room has a cable
TV jack installed in the
wall.
To connect to SCTV in your room, you will need a cable-ready TV and a coax
cable. Devices to display cable TV on some computer screens, as well as coax
cables of various lengths, are available for purchase from the Computer Store
in Stoddard Hall 22.
The SCTV channel line-up is the same as the line-up for Comcast's Northampton
residential customers, with the addition of three foreign language channels.
Click here for a complete channel listing.
Comcast's residential customers pay approximately $30 per month for this service.
SCTV service is provided to Smith students at NO COST!
Cable TV Setup

your TV and follow the instructions for activating the cable-ready features of
the set. You can find many manufacturers' manuals online. Some common sites

Resolving Cable TV Problems
- If the
coax cable that connects
your TV
to the wall jack is damaged,
you will need to
replace
it. Replacement cables
can be purchased
at the Computer
Store
in Stoddard 22 or from other vendors.
- If you have
problems connecting your
coax cable, call Comcast*
at 1-888-SERVEM1 (1-888-737-8361).
- If
you've connected your
TV successfully but don't
get a picture, first
check
with
other students in your
house. If none of the
other students
in your house
have a picture, call Comcast* at 1-888-SERVEM1 (1-888-737-8361).
- If you are able to receive
only some cable stations, consult your television manual for further troubleshooting
assistance.
- If
you are not able to see any stations
or if there appears to
be a physical problem
with your cable tv wall
jack,
please call the User
Support Center at x4487.
*Note:
When calling Comcast, be
prepared to give your name,
house, room number, phone
number, and a description
of the problem.
