ABOUT ITS

ACADEMIC SOFTWARE

ITS provides a wide variety of software for faculty and students to use in teaching, learning, research, and other aspects of college business. Computers in the resource centers, electronic classrooms, and faculty offices can access various software libraries through Smith's network file servers.

Smith resource centers and electronic classrooms are configured with specific software to fill academic needs. Additional software can be purchased by members of the Smith community from the Smith College Computer Store, x3027.

For information about standard software installed on Smith-owned faculty and staff computers, see our standard software page.

Faculty may also request funding for academic software from the Committee on Educational Technology (CET). For information about current programs, see the CET web site at www.smith.edu/cet.

The ITS Educational Technology Services group promotes and supports the use of technology to improve pedagogy. For further information, see our Learning & Design website.

Moodle is a web-based course management system that faculty can use to post teaching materials on the web, facilitate communication with students and colleagues, and track assignments and grades.

To access Moodle, go to: http://moodle.smith.edu
