The Center for Media Production, located in the Alumnae Gymnasium, is a site specialized for the creation of instructional multimedia. The Center offers support for video and audio production, with a wide assortment of equipment including 30 digital video cameras, digital still cameras, minidisc recorders and production support gear available for check-out.
The staff provides training and workshops that can be customized for your needs. We have 12 professional video editing work stations in the Digital Video Lab and have modernized our video studio with new studio cameras and a switcher.
The Center for Media Production also hosts the video conferencing system at Smith. Classes can now connect face to face with other students and teachers from around the world in real time. We can even put your programming directly into the student’s rooms via Smith Cable TV channel 88. We continue to design, build and maintain the media-capable classrooms on campus.
Please note that video and audio production does not include video or audio taping of events. We can train and sign out equipment to you for such needs or provide you with a list of companies that provide this service. Once you have the raw audio or video from an event, we can help you learn to edit it, prepare it for placement on the web or for airing over Smith’s cable TV network.
