Smith's primary email identity is now @smith.edu. Messages sent to @email.smith.edu will be delivered as usual, but users must use their @smith.edu address to log in to MessageScreen. List subscribers may also need to change their subscription settings. Click here for more information.

ITS has installed multiple new wireless access points in academic buildings across campus. Users in these locations will connect to the wireless network using Cisco Clean Access (CCA), a proven network authentication and security system. Click here to learn all about CCA.

Having trouble with Internet Explorer? IE security settings can interfere with some functions on some web sites, but it's never a good idea to turn them off. Instead, try Mozilla Firefox. Don't have Firefox? Click here to download it.

Don't be fooled! Phishing fraudsters have been attempting to scam gullible people into handing over their credit card details on the basis of a supposed offer from McDonalds. For more information, click here.

Got McAfee AntiSpyware? McAfee's antispyware program runs continuously in the background, updates itself automatically, and makes your computer faster and more secure. To get it, download McAfee VirusScan 8.7 from the Smith software page.

Office 2007 workshops for students, staff, and faculty provide hands-on experience using the new Office 2007 "ribbon" toolbar to create and edit Word 2007, Excel 2007, and PowerPoint 2007 documents. Click here for full workshop description, available dates and times, and registration information.

If you work with any Smith website, you must use secure FTP to transfer files between your computer and a Smith web server. Whether you use Dreamweaver, Contribute, or a non-secure FTP program, click here for instructions on switching to Secure FTP.

Office 2007 Users: If you plan to send a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file to someone who does not have Office 2007, click here for instructions on saving the file in a format your recipient can open.

Non-Office 2007 Users: If you are unable to open a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file sent by an Office 2007 user, click here for instructions on converting the file to a format your computer can read.

Staff & Faculty: Since Internet Explorer 7 for Windows is incompatible with some Smith applications, please install a program that blocks the Windows updater from installing it on your computer. Log in to the Smith software page and click on the Blocker link at the top of the page. Click on Run, then Run again.

RefWorks, online software that helps you collect, organize, and format references for research and writing, is now available free to all Smith students, faculty, and staff. For more information, click here.

Quarantine Alert
: Many people are adding the wrong kinds of entries to their 'Blocked Senders' list in MessageScreen, inadvertently blocking messages they really want to receive while slowing down the system with unneeded entries. To learn how to avoid this problem, click here.

The Center for Media Production (CMP) is an Educational Technology Services facility dedicated to the teaching and learning of video production. Located in the lower level of the Alumnae Gym, the CMP provides state-of-the-art video labs, studios, equipment, and software to the Smith community. For more information, click here.
