Smith College Admission Academics Student Life About Smith Offices
Office of Institutional Research

The Office of Institutional Research develops and maintains a comprehensive program of educational research and institutional self-study in order to provide information supportive of enrollment management, assessment of student outcomes and institutional effectiveness, academic planning, and executive decision-making. Such a program includes deriving relevant information from the College’s student and alumnae data systems as well as conducting survey research to generate new data.

The Office is in the Provost/Dean of the Faculty's area, but serves the entire college.  It is a source for decision and research support for senior administrators, standing and ad hoc committees, administrative offices, and academic departments, and is the primary provider of statistical information on the College to both internal and external constituencies.  The Office disseminates information internally on a regular basis via a student fact book and survey research reports.
