Please read carefully before writing your proposal.
The January Interterm Committee has four main criteria
for course selection:
If more than one instructor will teach the course, give
us all the contact info for both, but designate one lead instructor who will be the
contact person.
Course proposals don't
need to be more than 300 words. In addition to the proposal,
submit a short course description and a short personal
statement, which should include something about your interest
in your topic. Though we may edit it, your course description
will be printed in the Interterm catalogue.
Completed proposals, including the course description
and personal statement, are due by 4 p.m. on October 5, 2007.
Expenses: Students enrolled in
classes are responsible for any expenses for course materials, photocopying,
etc. necessary for the course. Estimate the cost per student so
that we can include this cost in your course description. Be specific. Don't just
say "$5 for materials." Tell us what the materials are and what each student
will have to pay.
Smith students and staff will receive their stipends
through the payroll system.
Smith students' earnings for teaching
an interterm course will not affect the financial aid award.
Smith staff who want to teach an Interterm
course during their normal work hours must make appropriate arrangements for vacation,
personal time or non-paid time with their supervisor before submitting a proposal. |
