The Office for International Students provides letters for international students for a number of purposes.
INVITE LETTER
Some parents and relatives may require an invite letter from the college in order to obtain a tourist visa to visit Smith. Usually this is for the purposes of attending graduation, but other visits may also be permitted. Parental visits should generally be of relatively short duration, and students are encouraged to be sure to communicate with roommates about the coming visit. Invite letters can be requested here via online form. We will write the letters and send them to you in your campus box. It is the student's responsibility to send them to their relatives.
RMV/RESIDENCY LETTER
Sometimes a student will need to prove that they live on campus. The most common reason for needing such a letter is to obtain a state id or driver's license. Residency letters can be requested here via online form. We will write the letter and send it to you in your campus box.
LETTER OF GOOD STANDING
This letter is used to show that you are a student in good standing at Smith College. Because good standing letters are used for so many different purposes, and because the contents frequently need to include different information specific to that purpose, we do not have an online form for a good standing letter. To obtain one, visit Ashavan in Clark Hall 303, or stop by Dean Tamzarian's office during his open hours.
