IMPORTANT INFO FOR STUDENTS STAYING OVER THANKSGIVING BREAK!
Each Fall many of the houses will close for Thanksgiving break (November 25-29). The open houses are: Baldwin, Chase, Cutter, Duckett, Friedman, Gillett, Hopkins, Lamont, Lawrence, Morris, Northrop, Tenney, Ziskind, 47 Belmont, 44/54 Green St. and 150 Elm.
If you live in one of these houses, all you are required to do is fill out a form and submit it to Residence Life by November 20. The college changes all outside house locks, so you will be required to pick up a key on Monday November 23. The college charges a modest $80 fee to each student electing to stay on campus during the break. The fee is charged to your student account, so don't panic if you don't have the money on hand.
Students not living in one of these houses should see if there is a fellow international student, or a student from one of their other student groups, that lives in an open house and is willing to let them stay in their room during the break. Not everyone is willing to allow a friend to stay in their room, so students not in open houses should start looking early for someone willing to host them in their room.
For full details of Thanksgiving housing procedures, as well as to download the required form, students should go to the Thanksgiving Housing page.
The college is sensitive to the fact that Smith's mission is one that values access to education and that this fee may cause financial hardship for some students. Smith has been fortunate to receive a gift to defray this expense for international students with financial need. Students with this need should fill out the Thanksgiving Break Assistance Form.
