slide & photo collections

SLIDE COLLECTION
With ca. 280,000 slides, the collection covers art, architecture, and material culture for a wide geographic and cultural range, including Asian, Prehistoric, Egyptian, Pre-Columbian, African Ancient Mediterranean, Greek and Roman, Islamic, European, American, and Native American. Access to the slide collection is facilitated by consulting the Slide Classification. Imaging Center staff also will assist patrons in consulting the slide database.

The Slide Collection is used primarily for instructional purposes. Circulation of materials from this collection is restricted to faculty, students, and staff for class presentations only. Slides may not be charged out for study or review, but the Image Preview Room is available for previewing projected presentations. Slides may not be taken off-campus except by special arrangement with the Imaging Center Director, Elisa Lanzi. Users outside of the Department of Art should check in at the Imaging Center front desk for assistance.

PHOTO/STUDY COLLECTION
The Photo/Study collection (formerly known as the Visual Resources Collection) includes over 73,000 items. Photographs, color reproductions and prints, drawings, and facsimiles, maps, posters and postcards cover the same subject scope as the Slide Collection. A subject card catalog is available for reference.

Loan of materials from this collection is restricted to faculty, students, and staff for required class assignments and individual research only. Users should ask for assistance from staff before using the collection. The Image Study Room (on the first floor, Hillyer 119) is for the display of course reserve visual materials. Contact Andrea Reynolds (x3104) to arrange for course reserves in the Image Study Room.
