personal collections (my uploads)

Please note: The INSIGHT "Personal Collection Builder" tool did not transfer to LUNA on August 1, 2009. A new tool for building personal collections, "My Uploads" is now part of LUNA 6.22. If you had an INSIGHT Personal Collection and would like to transfer it to LUNA, please contact Jon Cartledge.

Personal Collections Policy
The use of LUNA "My Uploads" is limited to authorized Smith college faculty, students, and staff for academic use only.

- Scanners are available in Imaging Center.
- You must supply your own media (CD, DVD, zip disks, jump drives).
- Slides from the Smith College Image Collections may not be scanned without the permission of the Imaging Center Director.

How to Use LUNA "My Uploads"

1. Register with Jacy Birdsong for permission setting to use "My Uploads"
2. Open LUNA
3. Log on with your Novell username and password
4. Click on "Create"
5. Click on "My Uploads"

Tips

Cataloging
My Uploads has three fields for cataloging: Title, Description, and Copyright. If you want to make your fields searchable with other LUNA collections, please contact Imaging Center staff.

Scanning tips
- Naming images: use unique names, do not use characters, such as _ or &.
- Batch images: process images in small batches (e.g., 25) to better manage the project
- Permissible image file types
- TIFF
- JPEG (not compressed)
- PSD (not compressed)
