The Department of Art administers the Center, with support from Educational Technology Services. It is staffed with curators, catalogers, information management professionals, image production specialists, and visual communications specialists from the above departments. Among the services provided are: image collection development for teaching, image production, cataloging, licensing of digital content, training, and database management. The Imaging Center staff manages multiple image formats, i.e. digital images, slides, and photographs in support of the pedagogical mission. Contact Imaging Center Director Elisa Lanzi at elanzi@email.smith.edu for more information. The VCRC provides equipment and support for visual computing, with an emphasis on the capture, editing, and compositing of visual materials. The Center houses 19 dual-platform (Mac and PC) workstations, each with a high-resolution graphics display monitor, in addition to scanners and printers. Educational Technology Services administers the VCRC with support from the Department of Art. The VCRC is used for class groups and for individual faculty and student projects. Before beginning work on a project in the VCRC, faculty members should contact the VCRC Director Daniel Bridgman at dbridgma@smith.edu to arrange access times. Student projects require a faculty sponsor, and students should also contact the VCRC Director in advance. |
