How to add a LUNA media group to Moodle @ Smith College

1.Make a group in LUNA.
2. Create a presentation from that group.
3. Highlight the presentation blue icon (do not open it).
4. Pull down "File".
5. Select "Export presentation to HTML".
6. Choose resolution "800 x 600".
7. Specify the download folder (do not touch the filename).
8. Click "Save".
9. Open the folder where you saved your presentation. Click on the presentation folder inside and create a zip folder. For PC go to File>Add to Zip.
10. Log-in to Moodle.
11. Under"Administration" menu, click "Files".
12. Click "Make a Folder". Create a name for the folder in the box that pops-up and click "Create".
13. Click on the name of your new folder, then, in the pop-up window, click "Upload a File".
14. Click "Browse" and select your zipped folder and click"Upload this File".
15. The zipped file will appear. Select the "unzip" option to the right.
16. Click "OK".
17. Go back to the main class page in Moodle.
18. Click "Turn Editing On".
19. Under Files use the "Add a Resource" drop-down menu and select "Link File or Website".
20. Name your presentation at the top of the page. Under "Link to File or Website" click "Choose or Upload a File".
21. Click on the name of the folder you created in step 12. In the window that pops-up go to the right of the presentation you want to click "Choose".
22. Click "Save Changes".

How to add a LUNA image gallery in your Moodle @ Smith College

1. In LUNA, find the Media Group or Presentation you created
2. Click the "Embed this" button at the top of your screen
3. In Moodle, click "Turn Editing on" button
4. Select "Compose a text page" from the "Add a Resource" dropdown menu.
5. Copy the code from the Embed area in LUNA (in your browser window, select Copy from the Edit menu)
6. Moodle will take you to a new page where you will:
Type a Name; Type a short Summary; In the "Full text" area paste the string of code copied from LUNA gallery (in your browser window, select Paste from the Edit menu); Choose Moodle auto-format from the Format drop down menu.

How to add an ARTstor group to Moodle @ Smith College

1. Log into ARTstor and open your image group, so that the thumbnails are displayed.
2. Under the "Image Groups" toolbar menu, select the "Display Image Group URL" option.
3. Click on the URL value to select it.
4. Go to Edit>Copy.
5. Open Moodle, turn Editing on.
6. Under Files use the "Add a Resource" drop-down menu and select "Link to File or Website".
7. Name your presentation at the top of the page. Under "Link to File or Website" Paste the URL link into the "Location" field.
8. Save changes.
9. When you click on the link for that URL, they will be taken directly to the first image that Image Group displayed in the ARTstor Image Viewer. Use the navigation arrows in the bottom right corner of the Image Viewer window to page through the images in the Image Group.

Note: You can create links to any Image Groups to which you have access to view. You can also create links to Image Groups that are in your private Work Folder. Also, you must be within your institution's valid IP range for the link to function properly.

How to add an OIV presentation to Moodle

NOTE: students will need to download ARTstor’s OIV software for this option to work on their personal computers.

1. Create and save your OIV presentation.
2. Log in to Moodle.
3. Under “Administration” menu, click “Files”
4. Click “Make a Folder.” Create a name for the folder in the box that pops-up and click “Create”
5. Click on the name of your new folder, then, in the pop-up window, click “Upload a File.”
6. Click “Browse” and select your OIV Presentation and click “Upload this File”
7. Click “OK”
8. Go back to the main class page in Moodle
9. Click “Turn Editing On”
10. Under Files use the “Add a Resource” drop-down menu and select “Link File or Website.”
11. Name your presentation at the top of the page. Under “Link to File or Website” click “Choose or Upload a File.”
12. Click on the name of the folder you created in step 11. In the window that pops-up go to the right of the presentation you want click “Choose”
13. Click “Save and return to course.”

How to add a PowerPoint to Moodle

NOTE: If you plan to use a PowerPoint downloaded from insight, please see instructions first http://www.smith.edu/images_powerpoint.htm.

1. Create and save your PowerPoint presentation.
2. Log in to Moodle.
3. Under "Administration" menu, click "Files".
4. Click "Make a Folder". Create a name for the folder in the box that pops-up and click "Create".
5. Click on the name of your new folder< the, in the pop-up window, click "Upload a File".
6. Click "Browse" Select your zipped folder and click "upload this File".
7. The zipped file will appear. Select the "Unzip" option to the right.
8. Click "OK".
9. Go back to the main class page in Moodle.
10. Click "Turn Editing On".
11. Under Files use the "Add a Resource" drop-down menu and select "Link File or Website".
12. Name your presentation at the top of the page. Under "Link to File or Website"click Choose or Upload a File".
13. Click on the name of the folder you created in step 12. In the window that pops-up go to the right of the presentation you want click "Choose".
14. Click "Save Changes".
