Venue: Smith College |
Smith College, located
in Northampton, Massachusetts, is the largest private liberal
arts college for women in the United States. A highly selective
institution with an undergraduate enrollment on campus of 2,500,
Smith College has been strongly committed to the education of
women at the undergraduate level since 1875, and admits both
men and women as graduate students. |
| Northampton
& the Pioneer Valley |
The gates of Smith College
open onto lively downtown Northampton, Massachusetts, in the
heart of New England's scenic Pioneer Valley. With a population
of 30,000, this town combines small-town charm with metropolitan
cultural and educational opportunities. It is a lovely setting
for arts and crafts galleries, cafes, movie houses and unusual
shops. The Pioneer Valley is well known for its academic institutions.
Smith, Amherst, Hampshire and Mount Holyoke colleges and the
University of Massachusetts form the Five College Consortium,
cooperating to sponsor courses and faculty exchanges, an interlibrary
network and many other cultural and social events. In addition,
Springfield College and the Basketball and Volleyball Halls of
Fame are located nearby. Browse the following Web site for more
information about Smith College and the surrounding area: www.smith.edu. |
