Sixth International Congress Held in Tokyo and Development After That

The women who wished to emerge from the backwardness and to make education and research more substantial founded the Japan Association of Physical Education for Women (JAPEW) in 1954, with " the invitation of an international congress" as its first aim.

The sixth congress that was help in 1969 widened the horizons of the physical education field in Japan, and JAPEW was given the pleasure of achievement of its first aim, and a lot of courage to advance.

After the congress, JAPEW expanded its sphere of education and research towards the lifelong participation, with school education as its nucleus.

Based on both sides, theoretical studies and practical activities, JAPEW has carried forward to offer:
É  one-year programs for educators and researchers- guidance of learning activities and basic research É  for students and pupils- studies of theses, and presentation and exchanges of practical results É  for infants and adults- presentation of programs of lifelong learning, and the system which gives community sports leader's license (dance movement) was made for improvement of leaders. In addition to the one-year programs, Anniversary events were planned to meet the needs of the time, and by continuing International exchanges, members' horizons and views have been broadened. Thus the young powers have been encouraged.
