The youngest of seven, I was the first in my family
to apply to college in America. Northampton is a long way from Lahore, Pakistan, and I
was nervous. But it didn’t last long: the International Students Preorientation was one
of my most enriching experiences at Smith, and I instantly felt right at home. I love how
everyone here is so interested in my culture -- it helps me stay connected to my unique
roots.
I was initially unsure about
my major, but now I have chosen government. One of my favorite things about Smith is the
ability to explore different fields and concentrate on what you love. My liberal arts education
has helped me become well rounded, and when I graduate, I want to make a difference in Pakistan.
There are things that I miss about Pakistan every day. But after just
one year, Smith has become my home, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. |
