I learned about Smith through Bottom Line, a
program in Boston that helps minority students get accepted to colleges. I applied to 10
colleges but had no idea where I’d end up. What I did know was that I wanted small
classes and frequent interaction with professors.
I knew it would be a big change coming
from a big city like Boston to Northampton. I also was accustomed to coed schools and being
around people who looked like me. Bridge, a pre-orientation program that examines cultural
diversity, helped me a lot with the transition. Now I love it here; I wouldn’t be
anywhere else. I’m glad to be at a place where I can interact with and learn from
a group of diverse people.
In my opinion, college should help you recognize where you came
from and where you want to go. It should allow you to grow. For me, Smith is doing just
that. |
