I initially looked into Smith because I wanted a college experience that was different and diverse. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. When I came for Discovery Weekend, I fell in love with the campus, faculty members and the support network offered by the Black Students Alliance.

As for majoring in math, I never envisioned that. In fact my intention was to try to graduate without ever taking a math course. Then I tried a calculus class and it was amazing. I went from hating math to majoring in it.

I’m also interested in French and planning to study in Senegal next year. I’d been passionate about student government since high school, so I ran for class president my first year and won that post. Now I am secretary of the Student Government Association. Smith students have a voice and make decisions that affect the entire college.
