I was homeschooled during high school. I knew I wanted to attend a good liberal arts school where I could study dance, and Smith had everything I wanted. Dance is a Five College department so I take classes at the other schools in the consortium. Best of all, there are a ton of opportunities to perform. For example, I’ve danced in the Smith MFA Thesis Concert and the Spring Dance Concert. Along with taking courses in my major, I’m trying to take a class in every department. I’ve already taken classes in the departments of English, economics, geology, anthropology, and East Asian languages and literatures. Now I’m looking toward math, biology and a combined physics/astronomy class. I’m also trying to start a club to create a stronger dance community. Smith encourages students to take leadership roles. And the people you meet here -- you know they’re going to go off and do amazing things. |
