Geology/Physics
Deansboro, New York

During high school, I did research on Venusian geology with my mom, a geology professor at Hamilton College. For college, I wanted a strong geology program, so my mom recommended Smith. My response was, “Absolutely not.” I just didn’t see myself at a women’s college. Then I visited and loved Smith, and here I am.

I'm in Air Force ROTC at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, along with three other Smithies. It’s a big time commitment but a great experience. I spent last summer at the Jet Propulsion Labs in Pasadena, California doing research on data from the Mars Rovers, which was really exciting since I want to be an astronaut and land on Mars. This summer, I’ll be in Iceland for a geology summer camp and then I’m off to Field Training with the Air Force in South Dakota.
