At a college fair, I was struck that the Smith representative seemed to be the only one really listening to me. When I visited campus, it was a dreary day but people were smiling at me and saying hello. I felt a community here.

The faculty members have been amazing. Their level of teaching is high but I was expecting that. What surprises me is their dedication to students. In one class, the professor -- who is department head -- baked us vegan cookies and served us tea. Where else are you going to get that?

I was hesitant about attending a women’s college. I’ve heard that from many of my Smith peers. What I didn’t realize is that when you take guys out of the equation, a lot of the stuff that makes girls catty is gone. Classrooms are more professional, and the house environment is incredibly supportive, fun and relaxed. At Smith, you can be all the different things you are.
