Frederick McGinness, Lecturer, Smith College, Classical Antiquity, Medieval and Early Modern Europe

An associate professor at Mount Holyoke College.  Research and teaching focus on western European institutional, intellectual, and rhetorical traditions.  Primary fields are Late Medieval and Early Modern Europe (Renaissance, Reformation, and Baroque).  Presently working on a translation and introduction of Erasmus of Rotterdam’s treatise on preaching, Ecclesiastes; and soon will begin a new work on methods of propaganda in the Early Modern era.  Has written on preaching, Renaissance humanism, the Roman Catholic church and the papacy.
