Stress managment techniques to help quit




Some stragegies...

  • exercise: walk, yoga, run, lift weights, bike, use exercise machines, etc.
  • meditate or do some deep breathing excercises
  • positive self-talk (you can give yourself your own pep-talks!)
  • use positive imagery
  • take a break, relax, have fun!
  • talk it out with a friend or family
  • write it out; write two or three pages about how you are feeling about the problem
  • time management (see the "Big Picture" pattern planning forms)
  • help a friend
  • see a counselor
  • practice "permission giving" (give yourself permission to feel your feelings, feel sad, be sick, be tired, etc)

Get a journal or just a spare piece of paper and write down several stress reducing activities that work for you and ones you want to try! Schedule time to do these ideas, and relax!
