Optional On-Campus Health Care Plan
For students covered by their parents' insurance, an advantage of the optional on-campus health care plan is that most laboratory tests that students will need while at Smith are covered without worrying about submitting claims to insurance (and coverage concerns) and eliminating concerns regarding confidentiality (submitting claims to insurance and parents). Most private insurance companies will not cover admissions to our intermediate care facility.
Cost
The optional plan may be purchased at any time during the academic for $236.
What's Covered
The optional plan covers:
- Laboratory test fees
- Visits with the nutritionist
- Prescribing of psychotropic meds (e.g. anti-depressants)
- Up to eight counseling sessions at Health Services
What's Not Covered
- Off-campus health care costs
- Costs of immunizations (and Depo-Provera) are not covered
Please note: Students who are not covered by the college health insurance may still use Health Services. There is no charge for the office visit, but students will be responsible for any ancillary charges and/or lab fees. If desired, students may self-pay for confidential ancillary services. The student is responsible for any charges not covered by private insurance.
