Many health insurance plans (including the full college health insurance plan at Smith) do not cover the cost of contraceptives. Smith College Health Services recognizes the importance of access to affordable oral contraceptives and has developed a purchase program for Smith students.
Health Services has developed a purchase program that is available to all Smith students regardless of insurance coverage. To receive contraceptives through the discounted purchase program at Smith College please follow these instructions:

When you are ready to purchase your contraceptives:
Payment: Please bring a check, exact cash, or your ONEcard (no credit cards) to Health Services preferably during the hours listed below. You will be given a voucher/receipt for the amount of packs you wish to purchase.
How to Pick Up Your Pills:
Take your voucher/receipt and your prescription to: Serio’s Pharmacy (65 State St, 584-8980).
Once the prescription is on file at Serio’s, you may pre-pay subsequent purchases as desired. Serio’s will let you know how many refills remain on your prescription. If no refills remain, call your provider to determine if an appointment is needed. No refunds can be given and pills cannot be returned.
*If you are just starting oral contraceptives, you should schedule an appointment at Health Services when you are on your third or fourth pack of pills. Your provider will review your pill use, discuss any concerns and check your blood pressure. You will then be given another prescription for enough pills to last until your next annual gyn exam. your blood pressure.
