By Girls For Girls
By Girls For Girls is two week class also taught during the Smith College Summer Science and Engineering Program. On the first day, the students discussed the question "what do girls need to know to be healthy and safe?" The course is taught primarily through discussion based lessons in combination with lecture, film, and other activities.
The course is taught by Dr. Leslie Jaffe, Director of Health Services at Smith College, and assisted by intern Elena Karlsen-Ayala.
At the conclusion of the program the students put on a 20-minute theatrical performance relating to the topics discussed in class such as body image, nutrition, reproductive health, and much more.
The students worked on their performance with Dr. Cydelle Berlin and Ariana Paganetti from STAR Theatre in NYC, New York.
